The Palace on Wheels season 2003-04 is near to its completion. The last trip of this season would be leaving on 28th April 04. The performance of Palace on Wheels during this season has been outstanding as compared to all the previous years. This year the total number of guests would be around 2,750. This record performance has been achieved due to the massive promotional campaign made by the RTDC and Indian Railways from time to time and during the Road Shows in U.K. and U.S.A. Besides the performance of this season there is a record advance bookings for the coming two seasons i.e. 2004-05 & 2005-06. RTDC has already received around 2100 bookings for 2004-05 & around 400 for the season 2005-06. RTDC has also received definite inquiries for 1000 guests during the successful participation in SATTE held from 25th March – 27th March 2004 in Delhi.

Shri Vinod Zutshi Secretary Tourism, Govt. of Rajasthan, while addressing a meeting of leading Delhi based Tour Operators at Hotel Ashok in New Delhi informed that Jaipur Airport is on its way to become an International Airport. The work of extension of run way to 9000 ft. has been completed and the airport is now open to International Chartered flights. He also informed that scheduled flights to Thailand and Dubai are already operating from Jaipur Airport. While informing the tour operators that Rajasthan has built many airstrips within the state, particularly at tourist destinations, where smaller aircrafts can operate, he called upon airline industry to come forward and explore the possibilities of commencing operations in the State.

H.E. The President of Guyana Mr. Bharrat Jagdeo was on a two days visit to the city on 11-12 January, 2004.The President arrived with a 14 member delegation to Jaipur including Mr. Avinash Gupta, Indian High Commissioner in Guyana. The delegation stayed at Hotel Rajvilas. He came to Jaipur by special IAC Aircraft A 320 & was extended warm welcome by the State at Airport on 11th January. In forenoon he visited Amber Place & was amazed to see Diwan-e-Aam, Diwan-e-Khaas, Mansingh Mahal & Mirror Palace. In the afternoon he was shown City Place where the former king of Jaipur Sh. Bhawani Singh Ji welcomed him & extended him evening tea. On 12.01.04 The President visited "Diamond Cutting Industry" at Sitapura Industrial area & talked on extension of mutual business of Semi-precious & precious stones between India & Guyana.
